The xfce4-settings-4.6.0 and xfce4-settings-4.6.1 ebuilds currently depend on >=xorg-server-1.5.3, but I can confirm that xfce4-settings is working fine with xorg-server-1.5.2 (which I am using!). And I guess others can confirm even lower versions. So if you're reading this and you're using xfce4-settings on a xorg-server lower than 1.5.2 please post your results here. Thanks. Reproducible: Always
That is incorrect. There are at least 2 packages that strictly *require* xorg-server-1.5.3. I am drawing a blank on the names right now and my logs aren't revealing the info. Hopefully another xfce team member can chime in here and set us straight.
(As a side note, I had xfce-4.6 running on the old monolithic xorg - It is possible but not recommended). Since xorg-server-1.5.3 is marked stable I see no problem with leaving the dependency in place as-is. Here is another point: If you are skilled enough to use ~arch xfce and way old xorg, then you are skilled enough to maintain your own local overlay without the xorg dep. Since we prefer to provide a completely working xfce installation, the dep should stay as-is.
xorg-server 1.5.3-r5 is now stable everywhere. The bug is just moot now :) Cheers
