Current version of media-gfx/wings in portage is 0.99.03 which is outdated. Last is 0.99.55. Further the current wings version in portage doesn't even compile against dev-lang/erlang-13.2 (0.99.55 does however, but see below). Since both media-gfx/wings-0.99.03 and dev-lang/erlang-13.2 are ~amd64 it seems reasonable that they should be compatible (if wings was stable I could see a reason to wait, but since it isn't that isn't relevant). Note that while wings 0.99.55 compiles (and runs) against dev-lang/erlang-13.2 there are some rendering bugs with the toolbars and menus. This might be in the dependency esdl, but I'm not sure about this. It might also have been caused by the recent upgrade of X.Org: I haven't used wings between that upgrade and upgrading to last ~amd64 erlang. Or it might be related to a recent nvidia-drivers upgrade. In any case those bugs are a smaller problem than not being able to compile or run wings at all. I have not attached an ebuild here since the upgrade was as trivial as copying the current ebuild to wings-0.99.55.ebuild and running the proper ebuild manifest command.
bumped to wings-0.99.60, thanks for the report.
