Description Pasi Sjöholm 2003-08-16 09:08:52 UTC
I have been using RH for over five years and just installed Gentoo 1.4.

My home and end-buttons do work in virtual console with applications like nano,
vi and less but when I go to X they work anymore with those apps.

Nano shows 'H' when I press Home-button and 'F' when I press End-button. I can
fix that by starting nano with '-K' but that doesn't fix less or vi. Less plays
beep from my pc-speaker and vi does same FH-show, no matter If I user Konsole or
xterm.

I can fix this by changing keyboard->linux console from Konsole preferences but
It really isn't a solutions. There is something wrong.

Some other has same problems: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=27929

Changing keyboard to linux console in Konsole resolves only nano and vi-probles. Home&End are not working in less.

It works fine here on 1.2 box (glibc-2.2.5 and 2.4 kernel), but not on
this one (glibc-2.3.2 and 2.6 kernel). Do not know if that is related though.
I am not sure if the 1.2 box also have the latest kbd ....

Works now on all my boxes, but I cannot think what changed (latest unstable
xfree,
glibc and 2.6 kernel) to have fixed this. I will try to track it down.
