Amd64 team, please stabilize this along with speakup (bug #263741). In order for the following test to work, you must have sound support. Here are steps to use to test this setup: 1) emerge both packages. 2) set up to load the speakup_soft kernel module on your next reboot. 3) add espeakup to the default run level. 4) reboot. Once you do this, your system should start speaking. If it does, you can stabilize both packages. To make it stop speaking, just log in and stop the espeakup service.
