After hard-masking this version in package.mask,
the former unixODBC-2.2.11-r1 also crashed !! :

... ehm ...

Lars, I actually _did_ cite the relevant parts of the respective build.log files -

c.f. above :

in comment  #0
> # cat .../dev-db/unixODBC-2.2.12/temp/build.log

and, correspondingly for unixODBC-2.2.11-r1,
in comment  #3.

But if you really need another X-hundred lines of
    *** %n in writable segment detected *** ,
I will have to back-configure my WS and undergo the procedures again ;)

In case, please give me a note, please.

Kind regards
Manfred

Lars,
your changing of my original summary looks impressively elegant on first sight;
but please be aware that with
   ......2.2.1{1-r1,2}
any other user's search using the exact package name like
    unixODBC-2.2.11-r1
    unixODBC-2.2.12
is doomed to fail.

(In reply to comment #4)

> Please note bug #249617 also.

Lars, Jeroen,

Tais rightfully pointed out that unixODBC-2.2.14 from Nov/2008
includes "a lot of 64-bit, thread, bufferoverrun fixes and more"
(please c.f. http://www.unixodbc.org/ ).

Thus you might perhaps consider not to waste too much time to this old / obsoleted versions;
I at least would be even more happy if these old ebuild versions become hard-masked (or even better deleted from the tree) and prefer frolicking over just one new ~ dev-db/unixODBC-2.2.14 working stable instead.

Yours respectfully
Manfred

Comment 12 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-03-22 15:08:28 UTC
This should be fixed with 2.2.14, let me know if not.
