Description stshine 2009-04-12 05:33:49 UTC
When running rst2html.py,error occurs:

Did you run "python-updater" after upgrading to python-2.6?

Oh, Sorry ... So embarrassed
Comment 4 Lars Wendler (Polynomial-C) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-04-12 17:21:16 UTC
So did running "python-updater" fix the problem?
Comment 5 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-04-16 04:03:10 UTC
Please reopen this bug report if the problem persists.
Comment 6 Kyle Liddell 2009-04-20 15:54:46 UTC
To confirm a solution to someone else's problem:
I had the same error, and running python-updater fixed things here.
Comment 7 typograph 2009-06-03 07:38:44 UTC
An quicker solution is to emerge dev-python/setuptools. After that docutils emerge without problems.
Of course, somewhere afterwards one still needs to run python-updater, but this solution helps if docutils was package 211 of 415 and the emerge command of python-updater leads to conflicts.

Thx, that did it for me.

Same here, running python-updater did nothing, eselect only showed the one profile, but there was all sorts of python 2.5 messages. Re-emerging the setuptools, then running the updater scrupt fixed this and a few other python issues.

Ok, this also fixed docutils-0.5 failing due to

Error: The "distutils" standard module, which is required for the
installation of Docutils, could not be found. You may need to
install a package called "python-devel" (or similar) on your
system using your package manager.

I have no idea why python-update and eselect failed to work but after emerge -av1 setuptools and python-update my emerge -avuDN world could finish.
