Description François Valenduc 2009-04-10 18:12:25 UTC
There are two slots for k9copy but k9copy-2.3.1 and k9copy-1.2.4 block each other.
I find that rather strange.
Comment 1 Tomáš Chvátal (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-04-10 18:26:59 UTC
kde apps will install into /usr/kde/3.5 soon.
And this way you can block entire slot for ensuring that you will keep your kde3 version.
I would close this NOTABUG but i cant :] So choosing nearest option.
Comment 2 François Valenduc 2009-04-10 18:40:15 UTC
I still doesn't understand why 2 version of k9copy belonging to different slot can't be installed at the same time.

François,

to expand on Tomáš comment, until we move the KDE-3.5 misc apps to /usr/kde/3.5, we'll have to keep blocking them from the corresponding KDE-4 apps or we'll get file colisions on /usr.
As of now, both slots try to install files with the same name into /usr, which will cause portage to kill the emerge because of file colisions.
Comment 4 Jorge Manuel B. S. Vicetto (RETIRED) Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev 2009-04-11 00:34:41 UTC
Given my above comment, I'm closing this as CANTFIX.
As soon as the eclasses are updated, we'll drop the blocks
