Description Paolo Pedroni 2009-04-10 09:09:51 UTC
I just noticed today that in the latest version of gimps the binary patch to work around the versioning of the libcurl library yields wrong results.
Now the program, after the patching, looks for the libcurm.so.3 library instead of libcurl.so.4

Spock, can you please check the patch and eventually fix it?

This happens after upgrading to gcc-4.3.2-r3 and "emerge -e system && emerge -e world"

Thanks a lot in advance.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Upgrade to gcc-4.3.2-r3
2. emerge -e system && emerge -e world
3. /etc/init.d/gimps start

Actual Results:
# /opt/gimps/mprime -m -w/var/lib/gimps
/opt/gimps/mprime: error while loading shared libraries: libcurm.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Expected Results:
mprime working normally

# emerge --info

Mostly working binary patch

This bpatch mostly works, meaning that the program works (apparently) right bur during merge it yields (several times) the following message:

scanelf: /var/tmp/portage/sci-mathematics/gimps-25.9/image/opt/gimps/mprime: Invalid section header info (2)

I have no idea what this means, of course. I only changed the "3" in libcurl.so.3 with a "4" with an hex editor. I have no idea whether other things should have been changed in the binary.

Working binary patch for mprime-25.9

This binary patch works without scanelf errors on my system.

Please review and include.

Thanks.
