#cd /usr/src/linux-2.6.27-gentoo-r8/
#cp ../linux-2.6.25-gentoo-r8/.config .
#make menuconfig
Enter exit I get the new && old config merged together...now compile image
#make && make modules_install

Results....failure process wont go to the end


Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.cd /usr/src/linux-2.6.27-gentoo-r8/
2.cp ../linux-2.6.25-gentoo-r8/.config .
3.make menuconfig
Exit...Save..and make && make modules_install

Results...

scripts/bin2c: line 13: `DESC: Multiple Image Networkgraphics lib (animated png's)'
  CC      kernel/configs.o
kernel/configs.c:60: error: expected ',' or ';' before 'static'
kernel/configs.c:71: error: 'ikconfig_read_current' undeclared here (not in a function)
make[1]: *** [kernel/configs.o] Error 1
make: *** [kernel] Error 2




Actual Results:  
Compile process failed showing source code errors...

When you upgrade kernel like that, you should always
watch stderr right after you exit menuconfig and
recheck all the menus every once in awhile.

How about running "make oldconfig" after you copied the .config file into the new kernel?

make oldconfig will make go over so many questions...even I have done it that way by answering all questions, but results the same

exit normally gives correct informations that configurations have been written to .config.

P:S
Anyways, I dont have lots of knowledge of those .c files as it normally works fine on my other boxes.
