Description Anders Kreinøe 2009-04-07 16:01:31 UTC
I use merged framebuffer (mMrgedFB) with the RADEON driver, but it stop working after upgrading from x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.6.3 to x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.12.1-r1. X11 works fine, but it clones the monitors, instead of giving me the big desktop it did before. I also tried with x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.8.0-r1, but withot succes.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
upgrade x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.6.3 to any newer release.
Actual Results:
MergedFB does not work, instead it gives a clone display on the 2 monitors.

Expected Results:
MergedFB should give one big Desktop on the 2 monitors.

My xorg.conf file
Comment 2 Rafał Mużyło 2009-04-07 16:34:05 UTC
IIRC, upstream has dropped it, so not a bug.
Now, it uses xrandr.
Comment 3 Rémi Cardona (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-04-08 09:42:37 UTC
xf86-video-ati-6.8 and newer no longer have MergedFB support[1]. It was removed in favor of xrandr support which does the same thing, but dynamically.

So please update your xorg.conf accordingly.

Thanks
