Description Raimondo Giammanco 2003-08-13 02:35:54 UTC
maxima 5.9.0 is not able to find the installed documentation.
when iinvoking "describe(factor);" it goes in output:
*** - Failed to find info directory

Maybe the configure guesses the wrong directory or name of info
files that is changed by the ebuild?

the normal info maxima from command line works normally.

Hm, strange, I have it working fine here.
Oh, I see you used the -r0 revision. Could you please try the -r1 ebuild? (in ~arch now). Although it seems to have problems with clisp :(. Therefore if just a plain emerge fails, try:
USE=cmucl emerge =app-sci/maxima-5.9.0-r1

Hello George,

I must have tried before the ~x86 version: indeed now it finds the
documentation from within maxima.

I must have tried even because I use clisp 2.30 that is in ~x86 as well,
with 2.29 there was a problem compiling, now I do not remeber
exactly what.

I will test it more when I will have a little more time,
I plan to use it from within texmacs.

Thanks.

Well, I am still getting a problem when compiling maxima with clisp-2.30 :(. However the new and improved :) -r1 ebuild is in the portage now. It suppors any combination of cmucl (default), clisp and gcl. The clisp bug is still there, but is no longer triggered in the default configuration. I hope it will be resolved soon. Now you should be able to emerge maxima without problem and get info files where it looks for them :).

Closing the bug.

George
