Sometimes one needs to move quickly. Running on battery, today I quickly clicked on "Shutdown" in the Kickoff application launcher and then immediately closed the lid of my laptop. At home I plugged in the power adaptor and opened the lid. The screensaver was running. I don't remember whether I typed in my password or not, but soon afterwards it just continued shutting down. The expected behaviour would be, that it would not suspend while already shutting down, but just continue shutting down.
