This is not a blocker, whatever you think that is. Refer to [1] to find out about our bug severity ranking. [1] https://bugs.gentoo.org/page.cgi?id=fields.html#bug_severity
Normally (with sys-apps/portage, that is) the way to resolve a blockage is to uninstall the blocking package (you dump the toilet roll[1] in the pot, so you fish out the toilet roll - stands to reason), but I am not familiar with paludis' treatment of blockers. Please take this matter upstream. Paludis usage doesn't appear to be supported in Gentoo Linux (contrary to its own installation/removal as a package). > but I am not familiar with > paludis' treatment of blockers. Paludis doesn't invent own blockers. It reads portage blockers. I am not sure what the block causes. If you google you find the same block on top of emerge too. So no sense in going upstream. I think this is the usual not my problem bug... ;) http://de.pastebin.ca/872965 paludis -u media-libs/gst-plugins-bad paludis -ip media-libs/gst-plugins-bad gives you? Right Paludis don't have own blockers. I google first and then write a Bug. If you google you find the same block on top of emerge > too. So no sense in going upstream. I think this is the usual not my problem > bug... ;) It does make sense, because paludis TREATMENT OF BLOCKERS is unfamiliar, get it? I could have written that I don't want to figure out how to read that output, too. If this is an ordinary blocker that the package manager cannot figure out, then you're supposed to solve the puzzle yourself, where emerge would normally refer you to [1] and where bug wranglers mark bugs as INVALID. [1] http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=2&chap=1#doc_chap4_sect2
(In reply to comment #7) > It does make sense, because paludis TREATMENT OF BLOCKERS is unfamiliar, get > it? I could have written that I don't want to figure out how to read that > output, too. Hmm, still I do not agree sending people Upstream. Forums would be a far better place. More experienced users can look into and help. (My fault too, sorry) @Hans Meier Please leave this bug alone and try Forum. (forum.gentoo.org) And by the way. Paludis is not the newest package manager it is just another package manager :P > If this is an ordinary blocker that the package manager cannot > figure out, then you're supposed to solve the puzzle yourself, where emerge > would normally refer you to [1] and where bug wranglers mark bugs as INVALID. Filed a bug for paludis to implement link [1] or something similar. Hope that makes your live easier. Relax Jeroen Roovers ;)
