Yeah, 2.5* had autoconf issues. The latest 2.6 will be stable soon, just skip to it if you want.
It would be nice to have a 2.5 Version wich works. I can't just update a important system like Backup to a relatively new version.
Syed: You shouldn't have any problems using 2.6 at all. I push about 2TB/week through it onto LTO3 media using it, with the openssl asymmetric encryption onto my tapes. sgw: failing that, any opinions on doing the hard autoconf fixes?
I have no good idea aside from showing this to Jean-Louis and/or Dustin from zmanda. I will point Dustin at this bug now.
It looks like this is occurring during the src_compile phase, rather than the src_configure phase. Why would the timestamps be such that make thinks it needs to re-run autoconf? If I recall, portage runs autogen itself (for reasons I'm still not clear on) in src_configure. Was there a change to the ebuild that triggered this error? If not, since 2.5.2 has been out for almost 2 years now, I would assume this is a problem on the client system.
dustin: Amanda is pure EAPI0, it does NOT use src_configure. The failure occurs during the call to automake. We call automake because there is a patch we apply for use with as-needed for linking. Just as a side bug, I see that the automake was running too late, and modified that in amanda-2.5.2_p1-r5.ebuild, but the bug itself still exists. * Running automake --add-missing --copy ... Ah, thanks. All of those macros are in gnulib, so perhaps an upgrade to the bundled gnulib is in order? There's a script in gnulib/regenerate/regenerate that can take care of that, although it requires a gnulib checkout.
