From the gentoo-basic-1.4-20030803.iso ISO, the distcc installation on the CD is 
incomplete.  There are no distcc, distccd, distccmon-text binaries.  However the 
symlinks (/usr/lib/distcc/bin) exist pointing to the distcc binary 
(/usr/bin/distcc).

the 1.4 basic cd will not contain gcc/distcc, this will be on the larger kde/gnome cds  
and a seperate basic cd soon.
