Description Florian Streibelt 2009-03-28 13:23:46 UTC
The nvidia-driver package downloaded from nvidia by the ebuild checks if the kernel has Framebuffer-Support enabled for nvidia and bails out, stating that this will not work although it works on my system.

It would be nice if there could be a use-flag like 'experimental' or something so I can get rid of my autopatch.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
When overriding the check in NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-180.41-pkg2/usr/src/nv/conftest.sh the driver is beeing build and working.

I can enable Framebuffer at the kernel commandline in grub and use X without problems on my Lenovo Thinkpad T61 at the same time.

Actual Results:
Framebuffer and X are working, switching between consoles & X works, suspend to RAM works

Expected Results:
The end of the world, as nvidia suspects?

This isn't a supported mode by NVIDIA so it's not a supported mode by us. If you convince NVIDIA to support this mode, we will.
