I build the latest amarok (USE = debug ipod kdeprefix mp4 njb opengl semantic-desktop) on Gentoo, currently using KDE 4.2.1 from the upgrade guide. My ipod although connected and mounted does not show in amarok 2.0.2 menu. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. connect ipod and mount it (mine is under /mnt/ipod) 2. launch amarok 2.0.2 3. watch it do nothing Actual Results: no ipod detected showing on main window Expected Results: ipod should be shown as a dropdown list Portage 2.1.6.7 (default/linux/x86/2008.0, gcc-4.1.2, glibc-2.8_p20080602-r1, 2.6.27-gentoo-r8 i686) ================================================================= System uname: Linux-2.6.27-gentoo-r8-i686-Intel-R-_Core-TM-2_Quad_CPU_Q9450_@_2.66GHz-with-glibc2.0 Timestamp of tree: Thu, 19 Mar 2009 19:15:02 +0000 app-shells/bash: 3.2_p39 dev-java/java-config: 1.3.7-r1, 2.1.7 dev-lang/python: 2.4.4-r13, 2.5.2-r7 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r6 dev-util/cmake: 2.6.3 sys-apps/baselayout: 1.12.11.1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.5 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.63 sys-devel/automake: 1.5, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2, 1.10.2 sys-devel/binutils: 2.18-r3 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.0-r4 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.26 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.27-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=prescott -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/4.2/env /usr/kde/4.2/share/config /usr/kde/4.2/shutdown /usr/share/config /var/lib/hsqldb" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/ca-certificates.conf /etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/php/apache2-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cgi-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cli-php5/ext-active/ /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/sandbox.d /etc/terminfo /etc/udev/rules.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=prescott -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="distlocks fixpackages parallel-fetch protect-owned sandbox sfperms strict unmerge-orphans userfetch" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/gentoo.org http://ftp.esat.net/mirrors/rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1" MAKEOPTS="-j5" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_CONFIGROOT="/" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/portage/local/layman/kde-testing" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow 3dnowext X a52 aac aalib accessibility acl alsa apache2 berkdb bluetooth bzip2 cli cpudetection cracklib crypt ctype dba dbus directfb dri dts dvb dvd dvdnav dvdr dvdread embedded encode exif fat fb flac fortran gd gdbm gimp glitz gpm gtk gtk2 h323 hal icecast iconv ipod ipv6 isdnlog java jpeg kdeprefix latin1 lm_sensors loop-aes mad matroska midi mmx mmxext mng mp3 mp4 mplayer msn mudflap ncurses njb nls nptl nptlonly nsplugin ogg opengl openmp oss pam pcre pdf perl php png pppd python qt3 qt4 quicktime radio readline reflection rtc sdl session slang smp spl sqlite srt sse ssl stream subtitles svg sysfs tcpdtiff truetype ttpci unicode usb v4l v4l2 visualization vorbis webkit win32codecs wmf wxwindows x264 x86 xfs xorg xv xvid xvmc zlib" ALSA_CARDS="hda-intel" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="adpcm alaw asym copy dmix dshare dsnoop empty extplug file hooks iec958 ioplug ladspa lfloat linear meter mmap_emul mulaw multi null plug rate route share shm softvol" APACHE2_MODULES="actions alias auth_basic auth_digest authn_anon authn_dbd authn_dbm authn_default authn_file authz_dbm authz_default authz_groupfile authz_host authz_owner authz_user autoindex cache dav dav_fs dav_lock dbd deflate dir disk_cache env expires ext_filter file_cache filter headers ident imagemap include info log_config logio mem_cache mime mime_magic negotiation proxy proxy_ajp proxy_balancer proxy_connect proxy_http rewrite setenvif so speling status unique_id userdir usertrack vhost_alias" ELIBC="glibc" INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse evdev" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="v4l vga nv nvidia sdl fbdev vesa apm" Unset: CPPFLAGS, CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, FFLAGS, INSTALL_MASK, LANG, LC_ALL, LINGUAS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS
Have you tested amarok-2.0.2-r1? If you use the kde-testing overlay, you can also try out amarok-2.0.90.
I don't have an ipod, so I need some info before I can do anything.
Reinstalled amarok 2 now part of my whole KDE 4.3.1 in Gentoo, It still cannot see the ipod (whereas amarok 1.4 was fine): Bus 001 Device 004: ID 05ac:1261 Apple Computer, Inc. Forgot to also mention that on the same system, gtkpod sees it fine too.
Hadn't realized that the "new" way was to mount the ipod first. Amarok now sees it but i cannot copy files to it. (never gives the option).
Actually got it working with new version of amarok. Sorry for the noise and thanks for the hard work :)
