Since upgrading to Firefox 3, I have had ugly or unreadable output when printing web pages. The letters are printed, but they are incorrectly spaced, chunky, or so small they cannot be read. This happens whether I print to a regular printer, to a PDF printer, or to a file. The behaviour is 100% consistent. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to the URL provided above. 2. Print the page either to a PDF or to the printer. Actual Results: The printed page has ugly, chunky fonts, or incorrectly spaced fonts, or fonts so small they are unreadable. Expected Results: The printed page should look like the rendered page. Created attachment 185371 [details] Actual page This is what the page looks like in the browser window.
Created attachment 185373 [details] Print preview This is what the page looks like in the Print Preview window. The font weirdness is already starting, but not quite as bad as it's going to get.
Created attachment 185374 [details] PDF print output This is what prints. This was printed using the CUPS pdf printer driver, but the print output is identical to what comes out of my Postscript printer. It's garbalicious!
you can set a custom font yourself via about:config if your careful or threw normal preferences.
(In reply to comment #4) > you can set a custom font yourself via about:config if your careful or threw > normal preferences. > Choice of font hasn't made any difference thus far. This problem is still present; in fact, it seems to be getting worse, as I can print less and less from Firefox without getting garbage output.
Okay -- this seems to be resolved now, as of Firefox 3.10 and nspr 4.7.4. To fix, you need to build the new nspr, then rebuild Firefox. Make sure you restart Firefox after rebuilding :)
