Description Sukhjeet Batth 2003-08-09 11:58:07 UTC
After doing emerge system for the first time, I got the following errors:
!!! Couldn't find match for dev-lang/perl
!!! Couldn't find match for sys-libs/pam
Not a big deal because I just did "emerge perl" and "emerge pam", but it would
be nice if it worked with "emerge system"

Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge system

Actual Results:
After emerging everythign else:

!!! Couldn't find match for dev-lang/perl
!!! Couldn't find match for sys-libs/pam

Expected Results:
emerged perl and pam

This is with a 1.4 basic CD install.

I've done some stage1-installs lately (x86) and this should not be tagges as minor in severity, as not getting pam built is rather a pain when the system comes back up.

I can confirm that this is fully reproducible and consistent, I'm using these USE-flags, fwiw:

USE="-* pnp tcpd snmp readline ssl pam ipv6 mbox apache2 png"

This problem is a showstopper for people that arent intimate with emerge and expects the docs to be the way forward.

Fixed in the current profiles.
