Description Sim 2009-03-15 00:41:51 UTC
While compiling e2fsprogs-libs-1.41.3-r1 on gentoo hardened, this error occurs:

        LD uuid_time
../../lib/libuuid.a(gen_uuid.o): In function `get_random_fd':
gen_uuid.c:(.text+0x120): undefined reference to `___tls_get_addr'

(full log attached as build.log)

In bug #232743, a solution of upgrading GCC is suggested, but I am running the most recent gcc (gcc-3.4.6-r2) and glibc (glibc-2.3.6-r5) available on hardened. What is the solution here?

Have you tray to update the glibc to 2.6.1?
I think Glibc 2.3.6 slack TLS support.

Comment 4 Gordon Malm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-15 04:39:03 UTC
glibc 2.3.6 is not the most recent. Try upgrading to 2.6.1.
Comment 5 Gordon Malm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-15 04:40:29 UTC
Reassigning to base-system in case they want to patch e2fsprogs for backward compat.
Comment 6 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2009-03-15 05:00:01 UTC
no, upgrade your glibc
