the SRC_URI is set to "http://releases.compiz.org/components/${PN}/${P}.tar.bz2", but on the website the subdirectories didn't contain the word "compiz-", so the download of this tarball give an error 404. currently downloading path according to ebuild: http://releases.compiz.org/components/compiz-plugins-main/compiz-plugins-main-0.8.2.tar.bz2 real working path : http://releases.compiz.org/components/plugins-main/compiz-plugins-main-0.8.2.tar.bz2 proposed action: to modify the SRC_URI or to host the tarbal on the gentoo repositories
Which overlay is this? We may be able to direct you to the maintainer if you can tell us, but those packages do not exist in portage.

If you edit the summary to begin with "[desktop-effects overlay]" that will help the right developers to know about this.
same goes for package x11-plugins/compiz-plugins-unsupported-0.8.2
This has been fixed already in the overlay. You need to sync. x11-plugins/compiz-plugins-main/ChangeLog 11 Mar 2009; David Leverton <levertond@googlemail.com> x11-plugins/compiz-plugins-extra-0.8.2.ebuild, x11-plugins/compiz-plugins-main-0.8.2.ebuild, x11-plugins/compiz-plugins-unsupported-0.8.2.ebuild: Fix SRC_URIs for plugins: the directory under components/ doesn't have "compiz-" in its name.
