Description Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-08 13:48:42 UTC
The cracklib USE flag should go away from that package, and it should only rely on system-auth's pam_cracklib support as provided by pambase.

Right now it's broken in many ways, including:

- it's executed _after_ the system-auth stack so it will never be used, it finishes first.
- it depends on the cracklib library _which it does not use_: pam_cracklib is provided by sys-libs/pam[cracklib] not by sys-libs/cracklib.

Please just remove the USE flag.

This USE flag certainly *used to* work. I tested the cracklib support myself when I added it to a few mail servers that used this locally to change passwords. I have added a poppassd_ceti-1.8.5-r2 without the USE flag. Once it has been in the tree for a while I will call for stabilization. I have been neglecting this package, it would be good to maintain some level of cracklib support for people still using this package (if any).

The package seems to be dead upstream, and so I am not sure about the long term viability of the package. I picked this up to replace a very broken poppassd implementation a few years ago.
