I burned a ---cd1.iso onto a cd and transferred it to my other computer. I set
the bios to boot from the cd, an error "Boot failure" appears.

Messages are; verifying dmi pool data........
              Boot from ATAPI CD-Rom
              Failure.......
              LILO Boot

It is a 48x cd drive in a Intel Celeron 1ghz cpu, 256k ram 20 gig hard drive 
I sure would love to get this Linux going, before I go crazy with win98????

you might try with other hardware; cdrom or mainboard might be faulty.
even the iso could be borked.
