I've done nothing but backporting the bugfix to this version.

thx for the research, assigning to maintaining team.
Hi Alessandro, The current stable version of the Intel driver is a dead end and we're in the process of stabilizing a much newer version of the Xorg stack. That's why I strongly advise you to try the keyword list from bug #251832 so you can update your Xorg to what will become stable Real Soon (tm). It looks to me that the bug is fixed in the latest ~ version of the intel driver (2.6.3) and if it isn't, I would rather fix it there rather than 2.1.1. If you have any issues with the update, please don't hesitate to open a new bug. Thanks

The update took me about a day of hassles, which end up into a barely usable X11 with major keyboard issues (e.g. keys stuck unexpectedly, variable repeat rate, etc), minor synaptic issues (e.g. best effort tapping) and a severe frame drop in DRI rendering. Now, it is quite possible that I've missed something during the upgrade and that all that crap goes away doing the Right Thing (tm), but at the moment I'm quite happy with the old stuff. :-) Cheers, Alessandro
Thing is, our goal is to get rid of the old stuff. Please do try to go to 1.5.3 and don't hesitate to file bugs or ask for help in #gentoo-desktop on FreeNode. Thanks
(In reply to comment #6) > Thing is, our goal is to get rid of the old stuff. I completely agree with you on this matter. I run E17 on my laptops since the beginning, ie. when ebuilds had yet to come, but this time I fear there are too many issues to solve and I've almost no time to tackle them. :-( > Please do try to go to 1.5.3 and don't hesitate to file bugs or ask for help > in #gentoo-desktop on FreeNode. Yeah, I know. Gentoo people is great on this matter! :-) As said, I already tested it yesterday; above you can get an idea of the encountered issues. I had little time to research, but I suspect they are mainly related with HAL (IMHO, of course). Ciao.
