Tired of edit the /etc/conf.d/net i emerged networkmanager to have a nice gui tool to do that. The networkmanager works without problems after emerge, but pm-hibernate (which is using from gnome-power-manager to hibernate) doesn't work (it did not hibernate). After executing pm-hibernate i got this output on dmesg: CPU0 attaching NULL sched-domain. CPU1 attaching NULL sched-domain. CPU0 attaching sched-domain: domain 0: span 0-1 level CPU groups: 0 1 domain 1: span 0-1 level NODE groups: 0-1 CPU1 attaching sched-domain: domain 0: span 0-1 level CPU groups: 1 0 domain 1: span 0-1 level NODE groups: 0-1 The hibernation via hibernate from the hibernate-script module works without problems. I use the current stable version of NetworkManager and pm-utils. I think the dhcp or the dhcdpd, which comes with NetworkManager are the problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge NetworkManager 2.pm-hibernate 3. dmesg Actual Results: CPU0 attaching NULL sched-domain. CPU1 attaching NULL sched-domain. CPU0 attaching sched-domain: domain 0: span 0-1 level CPU groups: 0 1 domain 1: span 0-1 level NODE groups: 0-1 CPU1 attaching sched-domain: domain 0: span 0-1 level CPU groups: 1 0 domain 1: span 0-1 level NODE groups: 0-1 Expected Results: hibernate nothing
Please specify: * version of your kernel * version of hal * version of pm-utils * version of networkmanager * emerge --info and search through your logs for informations about networkmanager state. Also please don't touch Component field, this has nothing to do with gnome. I'll reassign to bug wranglers since there is not enough information to proceed at this point.

ebuc99, does the summary actually describe your problem, or is this bug about not being able to hibernate?
ebuc99, NetworkManager automatically detects suspend and shuts itself down. When you resume it automatically resumes it's action. Could you please provide some NM logs (attach to ticket). That should help to diagnose the problem. Thanks, Rob
(In reply to comment #3) > ebuc99, does the summary actually describe your problem, or is this bug about > not being able to hibernate? The problem is, that hibernate via gnome desktop (pm-utils) doesn't work even when the networkmanager is installed. When i deinstall the networkmanager hibernation via pm-utils works (yes i compiled pm-utils with and without networkmananger use flag, is the same). I don't know where i can find networkmanager log. Only i have is the dmesg output (see above).

Created attachment 184743 [details] suspend log I've checked suspend-resume using pm-utils. Everything worked ok here. Please check attached log. On the other hand - I'm using networkmanager-0.7 here. Maybe you would like to give it a try. 0.7.1 should hit the tree in the next couple of days. Unfortunately it's masked (as it depends on policykit which is currently masked in the tree), but it's much more stable and feature rich than 0.6.6. Rob
please get back to us.
oops, sorry it seems I'm missing part of this bugs mails.
I don't suffer this problem at all with current stable networkmanager and pm-utils
(In reply to comment #10) > I don't suffer this problem at all with current stable networkmanager and > pm-utils > I will close this bug next week if no reply is provided. Please try with current stable networkmanager-0.7.2 and a recent kernel (like 2.6.31) Good luck!
Please try with a recent networkmanager and kernel and report back, thanks.
