Description Joseph 2009-03-05 16:54:26 UTC
After upgrading to firefox-3.0.6 I get "Segmentation fault" on my AMD64 amd-cpu.
Firefox 3.0.6 compiled and runs OK on Intel based ADM64

I thought maybe it could be somehow related to this bug:
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=252302
so I recompile it against new glibc-2.9_p20081201-r2 but it didn't help, when I try to start firefox in terminal I still get:
Segmentation fault

Firefox compiled without any errors.

Reproducible: Always

Please help us a bit more and provide some kind of backtrace of the segfault. If you don't know how to achieve this, have a look at http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml which should contain all necessary information.
Comment 2 Joseph 2009-03-05 18:42:04 UTC
I've re-compile previous ver. firefox-2.0.0.19 and it works OK.

Now, I'll try to recompile again 3.0.6 and provide a backtrace.
Though, I suspect the problem might be with Mozilla code as Googling is showing some other distros having problem with 3.0.6 "segfault" as well.
Comment 3 Joseph 2009-03-05 21:28:23 UTC
I have a problem running backtrace, get not in executable format
I have set in make.conf
CFLAGS="-march=athlon64 -pipe -O2 -ggdb"
FEATURES="parallel-fetch ccache strict nostrip"

gdb /usr/bin/firefox
GNU gdb 6.8
...
This GDB was configured as "x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"...
"/usr/bin/firefox": not in executable format: File format not recognized

ls -al
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 109 Mar  5 14:05 /usr/bin/firefox
Comment 4 Joseph 2009-03-11 00:16:19 UTC
emerging Firefox 3.0.7 solved the problem.
