Patches can also be found at:

http://bugs.xfree86.org/show_bug.cgi?id=276

Which is the bugzilla system for XFree.

Seemant and I have been meaning to get this patch in. We'll get to it as soon as we can.

Scott,
If you could make a new version of this patch that applies cleanly to our patched xfree-4.3.0-r3 that would get it into portage more quickly.
Comment 4 Scott Price 2003-08-26 13:11:08 UTC
Okay, I will do that as soon as I can.

Comment 5 Scott Price 2003-08-29 07:27:28 UTC
Nope. The changes to the driver are too significant. I found where most of the patched code goes, but some of it I can't figure out where it goes. I can't even get it to compile.

Sorry.

I am not a real skilled PC programmer.

Scott, if you care to try this again, Alex pulled most of the mergedfb code
out to a couple of separate files, so the diffs shouldn't be as significant
to the current files.

That is for the DRI cvs code. Should I try to merge it into the 4.3.99
snapshots?

He hasn't updated the 4.3.0 patch in quite a while. All the new bug fixes
are going into the DRI cvs.

Do we have any ebuilds that build the DRI cvs?

Comment 8 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-10-20 11:42:20 UTC
Yeah, try for the 4.3.99. Should be fairly similar to DRI CVS since they
merged fairly regularly over the past couple of months.

No we don't have any ebuilds that do that. I've been pondering one that would
build a CVS snapshot of that plus another ebuild to provide the libraries
that aren't in DRI, but that's a ways in the future.
Comment 9 Scott Price 2003-10-20 11:49:16 UTC
Now that I look at it, no new patches have been made since the code got committed
to DRI cvs. The file changes took place after that merger. I would have
to manually strip the patch out of DRI cvs.

This might be just better to wait until we have an ebuild for DRI cvs. Anything
I can do on that front? I am not an X programmer, but I have made a couple
of ebuilds. Although they are still waiting to be committed.

DRI CVS lacks many of the libraries XFree86 provides. What will be needed
to have an ebuild for DRI CVS is to also have ebuilds for all of the requisite
libraries from freedesktop.org, most of which are not ready yet. We'll look
at this later once those libraries are released.

Cleaning old bugs with state LATER.

This one was fixed by upstream long time ago.
