Description Anders Eriksson 2009-03-02 10:15:35 UTC
Grepping the sources (pm-utils-0.99.4) I find:
pc ~ # grep usleep `epm -ql pm-utils`
/usr/lib/pm-utils/functions: openvt -- sh -c "usleep $1 ; rm -f /.suspended >/dev/null 2>&1 0<&1" >/dev/null 2>&1 0<&1 &
/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/99video: usleep 100000

usleep is patched into coreutils bu some distros, but not Gentoo. It seems the coreutils way of getting sub-second sleeps is to use sleep(1) with a float argument (a gnuism). I suppose we should patch pm-utils and/or patch coreutils.

One noticable effect of this bug that you get an error line on the first non-used vt when invoking pm-hibernate (saying usleep canno be found)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.execute pm-hibernate
2.check the first non-used vt for the error message
3.

Well, pm-sleep-1.2.4 which is installed on my system, calls "sleep 0.1"

Please post the version of coreutils you have installed as well as your "emerge --info".

I have
coreutils-6.10-r2

Comment 4 Peter Alfredsen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-06 21:40:07 UTC
pm-utils-0.99.4 is no longer in portage. Can you reproduce on 1.1.1 or (preferably) 1.2.4?
Comment 5 Anders Eriksson 2009-03-09 14:40:37 UTC
Having upgraded to pm-utils-1.2.3-r1, I can no longer trigger the bug.

Let's close this one.
