Description rmgentoo 2003-08-06 15:05:08 UTC
The program GPLFlash (net-www/gplflash) is no longer available and the website
has been shutdown due to illegal activity. The apparent author seems to have
scammed people. The GPLFlash page is down, but the domain which the page resided
is active with a message (by the owners of the server) explaining the situation.

URL: http://www.swift-tools.com/

Please delete all ebuilds associated with GPLFlash from portage.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Visit http://www.swift-tools.com/

I feel if the code is liscensed under the GPL, and the tarball is still available, the ebuild should remain, as long as it is maintained.

Who knows, maybe this project will be picked up by someone else?

The README that comes with this download contains a reference to
http://www.directfb.org/download/contrib/ - maybe the homepage of the ebuild be refered to here
as there is some indication that they may maintain it.

heh, the libgplflash tarball has a timestamp of like 2001 on the directfb site ;)

Actually, the website is just wrong. The correct website should be:
  http://www.swift-tools.net/Flash/

It took a tiny extra bit of Googling to find that. :)
