I know I should update portage all the time, every day, but ...

to be honest, there are a ton more packages that this would affect ... 
 
putting a specific portage dep in every pkg (while the correct thing to do) is not 
the way to go about it ...

so i'm inclined to say 'no' since 2.0.48 has been out for quite some time (months 
iirc)
