Description goalie_ca 2003-08-06 09:21:14 UTC
I prefer lynx to links and would like the option to have both on the 1.4 livecd.

At the risk of sounding insensitive, I must ask -- do you spend such significant amounts of time in the livecd environment so as to really care which text browser is on there?

I use lynx to view the docs when i'm installing.

Actually the x86 Quick Install http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-x86-quickinstall.xml tells you to use lynx even though it is not on the CD. If lynx is not going to be included on the CD in exchange for links then the documentation needs to reflect that.

additional reason:
- lynx is more native to command line management, links is more menu oriented
- links not working correctly with gpm (which is extremely useful to select what do download manually and from where while reading manual
Comment 5 John Davis (zhen) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-05-12 05:34:14 UTC
links has been fixed with gpm and works fine with everything. I would rather use links and save space. There is no reason that carry two webbrowsers.

As for the documentation, contact the documentation team for a fix on that document please.
