I've already set up an gentoo rsync mirror and would like to share the mirror of the distfiles as well. I have been mirroring the 35+G of data for over a week now successfully which is accessible via web or Anonymous ftp from gentoo.ccccom.com Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Knock knock!
Who's there? ;) Sorry for the delay, we're obviously behind schedule. I've recently added source mirrors to my list of duties, so I'll be starting with the oldest first and working my way down the list. I will be getting to some this week, but I'm not sure yet how many there are. Thank you for your patience.
Just did a quick check and noticed that the last update was on 09 Aug. If you're ready to start syncing again, I'll send the instructions. Just making sure before I send them out. Thanks.
I hadn't checked up on it.. /usr/bin/rsync -avz www.ibiblio.org::gentoo/ /gentoo/htdocs/ Welcome to the ibiblio rsync server! If you have problems or questions, feel free to mail help@ibiblio.org. If you will, please subscribe to our mirror announcement list: http://lists.ibiblio.org/mailman/listinfo/ibiblio-mirrors We offer these particular rsync modules simply because users have asked for them. If you would like another archive offered as an rsync module, please ask help@ibiblio.org. Thanks! receiving file list ... done distfiles/ distfiles/nwresources129.tar.gz rsync: read error: Connection reset by peer rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(163) rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (306307 bytes read so far) rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(151)
That file is about 1.2G, so thats probably causing some problems. I'll work on that assumption anyway. I'm sending you some instructions on accessing our private distfiles mirror. Please update your scripts to point to this mirror. Once that's done, I'll make sure the 4hr syncs are OK, then we'll add it to the mirrors page. Thanks.
I've followed the instruction in the email and updated the cronjob. It should be running now and continue to run every 4hrs.
I recorded a sync at 16:55 & 20:55 on 29 Aug, but the sync that should have happened around 01:00 on the 30th seems to be missing. Are there any errors in logs?
How can that be? It's only 8:47pm(PST) and the 29th...
Sorry, I usually point it out. The times are in date -uR format (UTC/rfc-822). What I actually look at is the contents of distfiles/timestamp.chk.
[root@gnudefiant 13:28:46 /gentoo/htdocs/distfiles]# cat timestamp.chk Sat, 30 Aug 2003 16:55:00 +0000
Just to keep you updated, testing looks OK and the server is ready to be added to the mirrors page. I'm just waiting for a couple of other replies.
The mirrors page has been updated and the changes should be visible in about 30 minutes or so. Thanks for supporting Gentoo.
