The document is saying: Once you hit Enter, you will be greeted with an even fancier boot screen and progress bar: Figure 2.1: The Gentoo Linux Live CD booting But no figure is being showed at all. There are more situations like this. Why are there no figures being showed? Or if this is done on purpose, why is the cdrom install.html even mentioning that there are figures? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Expected Results: Remove the text where is being said that there is a picture coming up, or put the actualy picture on the cdrom, so it gets showed properly. I don't want to sounds crude or so, but hasn't this file been triple checked before it was being put on the official 1.4 cdrom release? I mean, the install.html file looks rather silly. I already posted a handfull of spelling mistakes within 10 minutes. I'll try to find all the mistakes, but I don't feel like that's my job - it's the job of the (English) writers and testers of the doc. files.
It has been updated on the website. The guide itself was posted to the documentation team two days before Gentoo 1.4 goes final, giving us little time to fix less important bugs. The guide states that the latest version can be found online. The installation guide on the CD is outdated, is now and will always be. We can't just recreate ISOs because the document has changed. I don't think our mirrors would think it's funny if the ISOs were changed daily.
This bug was invalidated long before today... wtf happened?
