Description kisak42 2009-02-24 15:39:24 UTC
It is my opinion that http://packages.gentoo.org/feed/arch/x86/stable should only list packages that have become stable on x86.

However, this is not what we get, if any package is stable on x86 and there is a change to the package, then it is listed in the feed. So, if a package is has been stable on x86 for months, and it just went stable on s390 then the package is listed on the x86 stable feed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Subscribe to any stable live feed from packages.gentoo.org
2. Packages going stable on other arches have no value to the arch you have selected.
Actual Results:
Packages marked stable on other arches are not relevant to the specific arch that is singled out by the feed.

Expected Results:
Only packages that go stable on x86 should be seen on the x86 stable feed. The same for the other arches.

As far as I know, this affects all dynamic feeds generated by p.g.o. If it is determined that these feeds are providing the expected output, then I think it would be a valuable addition to see another set of feeds added which is only for packages that have just gone stable on the arch specified, and perhaps a dynamic the number of entries limited to a window of time (ex: the last 24 hours).

I do not create bug reports very often, please help this ticket reach those who maintain p.g.o.

The definition of the page is:
changed packages WHERE package IN $ARCH stable.

What you're after is:
changed package WHERE newstate($ARCH) IS stable.

This means an entirely separate set of feeds.

Patches welcome.

This should be implemented by the 'newly stable feeds' on https://packages.gentoo.org/arches
