You won't be able to test this out in a chroot however. emerge kexec-tools edit /etc/conf.d/kexec start the kexec service reboot verify that the host doesn't hit your bios, it will just fire up the new kernel right away. I'm going to refrain from marking stable on amd64 myself even though I am on the team because this will benefit from more hardware exposure. thx.
