Description Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2009-02-23 01:20:58 UTC
app-shells/bash-3.2_p17-r1 has been removed but it is necessary if you want to upgrade from old versions of portage and bash without ignoring dependencies.

You get the following error when upgrading
<sys-apps/portage-2.1.5 (is blocking app-shells/bash-3.2_p39)
which can be resolved cleanly by installing bash-3.2_p17-r1. Please restore that version in the tree.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Comment 1 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2011-01-22 00:10:56 UTC
bash-3.1_p17 is in the tree and is stable, and should satisfy any blockers
Comment 2 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2011-01-22 00:38:48 UTC
3.2_p17-r1 was the only version which satisfied >=app-shells/bash-3.2_p17 dependency in portage, while not itself blocking older portage versions, such as !<sys-apps/portage-2.1.5 in 3.2_p59 and later.

Reopening per request

There is no point in bringing it back today, it was only for upgrades from systems which were well over a year behind when the bug was filed.
