Description Jorge Luis Williams 2009-02-19 04:49:38 UTC
After emerging app-emulation/virtualbox-ose I get a message that says

"To launch VirtualBox just type VirtualBox"

However, VirtualBox is not in my executable path -- either something is missing or something silently failed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
simply: emerge virtualbox-ose

marciana desktop # emerge --info

Hi,
As reported by the elog notice after emerging virtualbox:

"You must be in the vboxusers group to use VirtualBox."

So please verify that your user account is a member of the vboxusers group,
if not you can do this (as root) with:
gpasswd -a user_name vboxusers

Yea, I am in the vboxusers group.

jorgew@marciana ~ $ groups
wheel audio cdrom video usb users portage jorgew plugdev vboxusers

In fact, I used to run virtual box just fine, it's only after a recent update that it stopped working.

That looks like a problem in the local setup.
Is this still an issue with 2.1.4 ? If yes, can you show us your PATH variable?
