Description Korvin 2009-02-18 19:28:44 UTC
Hi guys! Unfortunatly, upgrading the latest KDE4.2 result in damaged installation for me :(

Many packages are failed to install, some are failed to compile. Usual reason is lack of some library (like -lkworkspace), so ld complains about it. The thing is that library is installed, as portage told me ('R' flag in list) but it is invisible to linker somehow.

So, I made some kind of report aggregation of all failed packages using the commands:

mkdir ~/report
cd /var/tmp/portage/kde-base

find -name 'build.log' -print | sed -r 's/\.\/([^\/]+).*/\1/' | awk '{print "mkdir -p ~/report/" $0 }' | sh

find -name 'build.log' -print | sed -r 's/\.\/([^\/]+).*/\1/' | awk '{ print "cp " $0 "/temp/build.log ~/report/" $0 "/" }' | sh

...and finally tbzipped the dir to the file you may found in attach.

Hope that my info will help somehow.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Just install kde-meta:4.2

Hi, this looks really really like eclass isue;
Would you mind adding kde-testing overlay (where we have testing eclasses) and try it again (it should work with that one...).

(In reply to comment #3)

Hi. I removed `kdeprefix' useflag and recompiled kde from scratch (cleaning any installed packages) and now it works.

The problem as I understand is in cmake files. After couple of hours of hacking I've found that cmake incorrectly assignes include and library paths (this may be found in build logs).

Portage created the following dirs:
/usr/kde/3.5
/usr/kde/4.1
/usr/kde/4.2

The vital cmake files were found in 4.1 branch, whether some of newer files and includes were on 4.2.
I tried to make a workaround, like explicitly adding CXXFLAGS -I/usr/kde/4.2/include and similar LDFLAGS, but of course, this is not a good practice.

So, if we can told cmake that both of dirs (4.1 & 4.2) are valuable -- we'll solve the whole problem (better to get rid of 4.1 at all :).

P.S: I looked at all failed packages and all of them failed of just two reasons:
could not find include file (which was in 4.2/...)
or
could not link to library (also in 4.2)

There wasn't any other real errors, just theese.

Unfortunatly, I have no time to play with testing pkgs at the moment.. I'll try to do it a bit later :)

This should be fixed already since CMAKE_SYSTEM_PREFIX_PATH is set in eclass.
