Description shaney 2009-02-17 15:15:44 UTC
Since NetBeans bin package available on netbeans.org contains Tomcat, Glassfish and more others features, it would be cool to have an ebuild to install that release without using the netbeans installer, and to conform that installation to all other Gentoo installed software

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

I don't think we should be supporting binary servers from the installer (tomcat glassfish ...)
Comment 2 Miroslav Šulc gentoo-dev 2009-02-17 22:42:24 UTC
glassfish both v2 and v3 ebuilds do not exist in gentoo yet afaik. tomcat can be used with netbeans without any problems. and I do not know about any other features that upstream provides and we do not. what did you mean exactly by "... and more others features"?

Ruby support should be added. All tools are in place to add to tools.jar so this should be one major feature that is fixed as soon as possible so it is avaliable to users of gentoo who do not want to use a binary package from upstream.

So summary:

* gentoo does not bundle binary servers like glassfish or tomcat, so we won't include these in netbeans ebuild
* ruby cluster is now part of netbeans 6.7 beta ebuild
