Description flyinflash 2009-02-16 17:53:53 UTC
I got ManEdit-1.2.1 source from http://freshmeat.net/projects/manedit/, tried to compiling it but failed.

I had to comment line 29-31 and line 219-281 in /manedit-1.2.1/manedit/string.cpp, It's lucky that I compiled it successfully!

However it's always crash, while I clicked 'Windows' - 'New Editor' or 'New Viewer' it crashed; while I clicked 'New File' - 'Preview' - 'Index' it crashed ...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. click 'Toolbar' - 'Windows'
2. click - (if has not created file) 'New Editor'/'New Viewer'
3. it crashed

Actual Results:
it crashed

Expected Results:
show a empty window or friendly warning message

I think ManEdit is very important for user who want to write manpage, so please fix those bugs, thank you very much.

Comment 1 Rafał Mużyło 2009-02-16 19:47:55 UTC
Lets assume this is meant as a version bump.
Do I interpret your report correctly, in that
it sums up as: "the program was broken (it did not build),
so I broke it a bit more and now it builds, but it crashes
as soon as I try to do anything" ?

"It's lucky that I compiled it successfully!", indeed.

If I did misinterpret you, feel free to attach build log
of the initial failure.
Comment 2 Rafał Mużyło 2009-02-16 20:27:16 UTC
If that build failure was "throws different exceptions" error,
it should probably define _GNU_SOURCE, instead of NEED_STRCASESTR.

manedit-1.2.1 added to the tree, seems to be working okay for the x86 architecture
