Description Matt Butcher 2002-05-08 15:02:27 UTC
Suggested Addition (I think this is where they go...)

Q: When I upgrade my kernel, sound stops working. I get errors during the
bootup process saying the 'snd-card-[cardname]' modules are not found.

A: When you are using ALSA sound, you need to rebuild the sound drivers for a
new kernel. Make sure that the /usr/src/linux symlink is pointing to your new
kernel sources and re-emerge
media-sound/alsa-driver/[your-alsa-driver-version].ebuild

See the Desktop Configuration Guide for detailed instructiosn on installing
ALSA.

Fixed this in the 1.4 desktop upgrade.
