Description Vytautas 2009-02-10 08:29:51 UTC
dosbox 0.72 do not works in full screen mode after tuxpaint install.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge dosbox
2.dosbox works
3.emerge tuxpaint
4.dosbox do not works

tuxpaint installs sdl things for me as deps I think reason is there.
I found this by thinking about reasons why Dosbox stopped functioning.
Comment 1 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-02-11 02:21:19 UTC
This sounds like user error to me. tuxpaint doesn't have anything to do with dosbox. reopen with the output from emerge --info and your ~/.dosboxrc file.
Comment 2 Vytautas 2009-02-11 14:21:46 UTC
less ~/.dosboxrc
/home/vytautas/.dosboxrc: No such file or directory

More: I removed tuxpaint and depcleaned things -> DOSBOX works now as always.

I know that this is /strange/, but there is no need to add this as another comment or close bug because of this.

dosbox works for me in fullscreen only with the following versions:

xorg-server-1.4.2
xf86-video-intel-2.4.3
mesa-7.2
libdrm-2.3.1

When I upgrade (including the latest xorg-server-1.6.0) I get
black screen when fullscreen.
Comment 6 Lubos Kolouch 2009-03-03 10:56:52 UTC
It works with mesa-7.3, video-intel-2.6.2, but in Arch Linux.
So it might be something gentoo-specific.
Comment 7 Rémi Cardona (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-03 11:13:59 UTC
Is there any output from dosbox? Does it try to change the screen resolution to go fullscreen or does it use the existing resolution?

It's pretty hard to help you here with so little information.

And as for comparing with Arch, maybe they are using a different version of dosbox? Our X stack is pretty much as upstream tarballs it (except for the X server, but that can quickly be checked).

Adding Games and Mr. Bones back in, I have no idea how dosbox displays stuff on screen, and I'm pretty puzzled by comment #4.

Thanks

After doing the following :

- getting the latest vanilla-2.6.29-rc7 kernel
- deleting my xorg.conf
- copying over the kernel .config from arch

everything works OK.

So I guess the problem was within my setup.
Comment #4 do not understand either

Alright, let's just close this bug for now. If either of you can reproduce the issue, please don't hesitate to reopen this bug or to open a new one.

Thanks for the follow up.
