I installed KDE 4.2 on my laptop. Then, I added the battery monitor widget to the desktop. It shows "Battery: not present", even thought the computer is running on one. When I was using KDE 3.5.9, klaptopdaemon detected my battery. When I run "acpi" from a terminal, it shows the battery status correctly. I found that hal was disabled for some reason. After adding hald to the default runlevel, the battery monitor sarted working. Changing to invalid.
