Description CiScOh4x0r 2009-02-06 09:38:47 UTC
Ok, I recently update my box, then, when finished boot, my screen started to *flicker", suddendly I got this message:

"The display server has been shut down about 6 times in the last 90 seconds. It is likely Something bad is going on. Waiting for 2 minutes before trying again on display :0."

I was trying to know if I was able to run my system with: "startx", with my normal user I could not run it but, with my *root* I got in, my screen every two minutes was saying that message again.

Reading a little bit, I noticed that *GDM* might be the problem, so I unmerged *GDM* and installed *SLIM*, nice, my screen works perfect without that message, but, my normal user doesn't work, when I try to login in *SLIM* with my normal user says: "failed to execute login command".

Reproducible: Always

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you're running on unstable packages: here I'm on x86 stable (except for a bunch of packages listed on package.keywords), I upgraded last night and everything is working fine.

when using gdm, what does the Xorg.0.log shows ? If gdm doesn't come up, it's most often because it couldn't start X.
