The upstream bug is: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12634. All other pertinent information is there, as well as the pictures. If you wish me to republish all that info here, I will. For now, I think the link has pretty much everything else you need besides emerge --info. Note that before GEM was added to ~arch, the machine in question would not start X at all with any .28 kernel, so this is actually sort of a move up in the world. I'll post when things happen in the upstream bug.

I suspect this is the same bug as mine, #264128 - please see if you agree, and dupe if so.
will keep it separate even though you're right, it is possibly the same issue.
