When I try to print the cups printer test page, my printer starts to print, but there are vertical stripes. You can read the text, but there are these stripes. They only fill the printed area and they are magenta and black. Also the cyan part of the color wheel is at the wrong position. Another issue is, that when I try to print small unformated texts (such as ls -l ~ | lpr), I only get an empty page. Sometimes the printer stops and resumes after about one second, but the page is empty. It must be a problem with gimp-print 4.3.18, because it works fine with the 4.2.5-r2 version that I use now. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: A) 1. Ensure that cupsd is running and your printer is installed with the gimp-print 4.3.18 driver. 2. Visit "localhost:631" with any web browser. 3. Click on "Manage Printers" 4. Click on "Print Test Page" at the section for your printer B) 1. In the command line: Visit a directory with some (10-40) files (I haven't tested what happens with print jobs that should have more than one page). 2. Type "ls -l | lpr" Actual Results: A) You get a borked test page as described in details. B) You get a nice empty piece of paper from your printer Expected Results: A) Print the test page correctly ;) B) Print a list of the files in the directory emerge info: Portage 2.0.48-r5 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.3, glibc-2.3.2-r1) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.21 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) Processor GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://ftp.tu-clausthal.de/pub/linux/gentoo/ ftp://linux.rz.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/gentoo-mirror/" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /var/qmail/control /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/3.1/share/config /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" USE="x86 oss 3dnow apm avi crypt cups encode foomaticdb gif jpeg libg++ libwww mad mikmod mmx mpeg ncurses nls pdflib png quicktime spell truetype xml2 xmms xv zlib gdbm berkdb slang readline arts tcltk java X sdl gpm tcpd pam ssl perl python esd imlib oggvorbis gnome gtk qt kde motif opengl mozilla cdr -svga -alsa ppds" COMPILER="gcc3" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=athlon -O2 -pipe" CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon -O2 -pipe" ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" MAKEOPTS="-j2" AUTOCLEAN="yes" SYNC="rsync://rsync.de.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" FEATURES="sandbox ccache" emerge -s cups: * net-print/cups Latest version available: 1.1.19-r1 Latest version installed: 1.1.19-r1 Size of downloaded files: 3,604 kB Homepage: http://www.cups.org Description: The Common Unix Printing System //and some other results that are unimportant here... emerge -s gimp-print: * media-gfx/gimp-print Latest version available: 4.3.18 Latest version installed: 4.2.5-r2 Size of downloaded files: 3,999 kB Homepage: http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net Description: Gimp Print Drivers As said above, I currently use version 4.2.5-r2, but the problem is about version 4.3.18
please try the latest gimp-print-4.3.19 and if this does not help report a bug on gimp-print.sf.net
Have the same problem: went to 4.2.5-r2 and its working again! BJC6200 used with a BJC620 Tried to report a bug on the SF list, but could not figure out how to do so - appears to be read only. BillK
Same problem for me, and it all worked again going back to gimp-print 4.2.5. Canon BJC6100.
i opened a bug: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=101537&aid=795553&group_id=1537
"Please provide a pair of (captured output file) and (scanned image of printout thereof) that demonstrates the problem" <-- for the gimp-print devs
please see last comment
scanner wont show much in my case: just prints the first line, sometimes the last line at the bottom of the page, the rest is just blank. Will be a few days before I can re-install the driver to catch an output as its a bad timing. BillK
4.3.21 is out, please try it
The driver "Canon BJC-6200, Foomatic + bjc6000a1.upp (recommended)" works but the margins are too small for DIN-A4 when I print a text via "lpr foo.txt", so I can't read the first line. Also the first character of each line is missing. You can fix it by typing "lpoptions -o page-top=20 -o page-bottom=20 -o page-left=10 -o page-right=10". The driver without foomatic prints the test page correctly now, but printing anything else is impossible without foomatic...

I have the same problem with my BJC-3000. gimp-print 4.2.5 works; however, colors are too bright (i.e. what should be black is gray). I've already tried manipulating the settings but nothing changes.

i think i will mark the 4.3 series ~arch soon
ok 4.2.5-r2 is the latest stable now, so i can close this bug ...
Was everyone with this problem using DMT mode? We've just fixed another bug, and I came back and noticed this one, which has exactly the same symptoms. The fix will be in Gimp-Print 5.0 beta 2.
No - I use a bjc620 with a bjc6200 driver: I dont think the 620 does dmt as far as I can find out (quick google)
