Description Voicu Liviu 2003-08-02 01:09:52 UTC
This is a NPTL based on running 2.6-beta2 kernel.
I do:
# USE="nptl" emerge sun-j2sdk

and I get:
starshooter sun-j2sdk # emerge dev-java/sun-j2sdk
Calculating dependencies ...done!

And from this point just hangs (waits for what?)

May I ask how long you waited before terminating the build? Also, do you see any activity in top?
Comment 2 Voicu Liviu 2003-08-02 22:23:39 UTC
I ran the ebuild at 21:00 in the evening, and in the morning it was on the same situation.

Top command did not showed anything.
I'm ready to test anything you want because this is a chroot.
(I have the same problem in a live system which is not chroot)
Comment 3 AlterEgo 2003-08-21 02:14:04 UTC
I had the same error, until I saw:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=74316

I unmerged my old sun-j2sdk and blackdown-jdk; emerged ibm-jdk en then successfully was able to compile sun-j2sdk
Comment 4 kfm 2003-11-22 11:11:01 UTC
I think this bug can be safely closed. I raised the matter with Liviu, and can confirm that sun-j2sdk-1.4.1-r1 now builds fine with a fresh NPTL-enabled system, with sun-jdk-1.4.2.02 set as the default system VM. In this case, the system was bootstrapped with gcc-3.3.2-r2 and glibc-2.3.2-r8.
Comment 5 John Mylchreest (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-23 13:24:12 UTC
This has been working now for quite some time.
~r4, it was a problem in javac.

Enjoy :)
