Note: I use media-gfx/sane-backends-9999 ,which actually fails to compile too. It says Failed Patch: udev-rule-5.patch, maybe this is a problem with sys-fs/udev-135-r4. I have no idea..
xsane-back-gtk.c:2615: error: ‘SANE_CAP_ALWAYS_SETTABLE’ undeclared (first use in this function) xsane-back-gtk.c:2615: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once xsane-back-gtk.c:2615: error: for each function it appears in.) make[1]: *** [xsane-back-gtk.o] Error 1 that's the problem ;)
ok, but how can I work araound that? sorry but I dont understand that problem, is it now my turn to fix something?? tanks :)
The problem comes from not using an official sane-backends release in combination with a program that most likely was not tested with later versions than the last official release. I am not too optimistic about finding time to investigate this further, sorry. I'll leave this bug open for those who run into the same problem.
You were right, I downgraded sane-backends and upgraded xsane -> fine Than sane-backends-9999 wont compile anymore, but I was able to compile and install it by hand.. works fine. The Problem while compile sane-backends-9999 via emerge is that emerge is not able to aply a udev patch.. I think this is a bug in the ebuild. So in three steps: Downgrade sane-backends -> upgrade xsane -> upgrade sane-backends best regards.
I've added a patch to xsane and now it compiles with sane-backends-1.0.20 - since I don't plan to support current CVS versions, I consider this fixed.
