Description Davide 2009-01-31 10:54:18 UTC
If kopete is compiled with wlm and msn support, there is no MSN support. Libmsn has been installed correctly. This is the error:

Calling appendChild() on a null node does nothing.
Calling appendChild() on a null node does nothing.
kopete(22369)/libkopete Kopete::PluginManager::loadPluginInternal: Unable to find a plugin named ' "kopete_msn" '!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start kopete from console
2.See the output

I observed the same behaviour. After running kbuildsycoca4 as my user everything worked again. You should only use wlm though, and you will probably need to setup your account again because of the name change.
Comment 2 Tomáš Chvátal (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-02-28 14:11:20 UTC
Yup only wlm should be used.
It is stated in the useflag descriptions.
So closing as worksforme
Comment 3 Jaak Ristioja 2009-04-13 22:36:32 UTC
I upgraded from 4.2.1 to 4.2.2 using USE="msn -wlm" at first, then kopete suddenly did not show my MSN contacts any more. Then I re-emerged kopete with USE="msn wlm" and re-added my MSN account. The result was, that my meta-contacts in Kopete were disconnected from the addresses on my MSN account. That is - I've lost the MSN addresses of most of my contacts.

I suggest those USE flags be joined under a single "msn" use flag.
