Description Aaron Peterson 2003-07-31 17:54:45 UTC
for the past 2 months now I haven't been able to use konqueror for anything.
I think it's been bad for a while longer than that too...

anyway konqueror crashed hard one day, while viewing a ton of sites.. and then
it just plain started crashing a few seconds after starting to web browser.

now, it crashes even on file viewing.

The keyboard lockes up, and then the screen corrupts, and the system is fried...

I was infected with the t0rn root kit earlier, and now that is pretty much
cleaned up (chkrootkit doesn't say anything)

oh, also the sound/multimedia portion of the control center crashes.. and has
crashed for as long as I can remember.

I've asked for help many many times on the IRC channel, and on the forums.. and
I think I posted a bug before... but its not here anymore... and the problem
never went away.. (my computer was t0rned for a long time, I just used
windows... nobody helped me with that for a long time.. but a nice person told
me about chkroot kit.. anyway... This is a major major bummer, because we only
use KDE at work.. and I need it running...

I've been thinking about switching to kde-cvs instead of this... 3.1.2 stuff..

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.turn on computer
2. start kde (login)
3. hit the konqueror button

Actual Results:
4. can't move mouse cursor, keys don't do anything... screen corrupts

Expected Results:
freakin work or give an error message... or at least not take down the whole system.

nvidia or nv driver on nforce1 integrated, nv or nvidia on PCI TNT2 vid cards...

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

May I recommend you try it without the nvidia drivers? Chances are those are your problems.

This seems like a problem between being hacked and having some bad files/corrupt data
somewhere. The only resolution I can give you is to do a fresh install. Sorry for your luck.
